Bio: Annalaura Mastrangelo obtained her M.Sc. in Pharmacy from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 2011 (excellent award qualification), and her international PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from San Pablo CEU University, Madrid, in 2017 (extraordinary thesis award). As a PhD student, she worked in the field of metabolomics and lipidomics by deepening into the biology underlying chronic diseases, mainly obesity and its complications. In 2017, she joined Dr. Sancho’s immunology group at the Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Centre (CNIC) in Madrid as a postdoctoral fellow where she is currently leading a project aimed at deciphering the role of microbiome-associated metabolites in the progression of atherosclerosis by using both animal and human models.
