Web of Science ResearcherID: Bio: Alessia Ferrarini received her B.Sc. in Herbal Techniques in 2005 and her M.Sc. in Pharmacy in 2010, from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy).
She obtained her PhD in in Medicinal Chemistry from San Pablo CEU University in 2014. As PhD student at CEMBIO she worked on the development and implementation of metabolomics strategies with GC-MS and LC-MS to advance knowledge in cardiovascular and pulmonary alterations, in the ambit of Marie Curie Initial Training Network π-net.
In October 2014 she joined Prof. Habtom Ressom Lab (http://omics.georgetown.edu), at Georgertown University in Washington DC, as postdoctoral fellow where she was involved in several project aimed at improving the early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma in health disparity.
In November 2015 she joined the Cardiovascular Proteomics group at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC), led by Prof. Jesus Ma Vazquez Cobo, as postdoctoral researcher. During her postdoctoral training she set up and implemented the metabolomics platform for clinical studies and she led the metabolomics analysis of the PESA project (http://www.estudiopesa.org).
Currently she is responsible for the Metabolomics lab at the Proteomics and Metabolomics Unit at the CNIC. Among several collaborations with CNIC groups, she actively works on improving the analytical bottlenecks of Metabolomics. ORCID: 0000-0002-4587-6095
