Bio: Gisele Canuto is currently Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry at Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) in Salvador, Brazil. She coordinates the Bioanalytical and Clinical Metabolomics Research Group (BioMet) at UFBA. She received her Ph.D. (2016) and Master’s degree (2011) in Science in the Institute of Chemistry at University of Sao Paulo (USP) under the supervision of Prof. Marina F. M. Tavares. At CEMBIO, in 2011, she started her metabolomics studies under the supervision of Prof. Ángeles López-Gonzálves and Prof. Coral Barbas. She has experience in untargeted metabolomics performed by separation techniques (LC-MS, GC-MS, and CE-MS). Her research interests include analytical methods development for metabolomics (sample preparation, analysis, and data treatment). She is currently involved in metabolomics studies of neglected and emerging diseases (leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, zika, chikungunya, and dengue) and cancer.
